In Homer's Iliad, there is a moment when Achilles is struggling. He is at a loss for answers, because all strategies have failed. The battle is at its peak. The stakes are high. He needs this victory. The impending chariot race is long, layered, and the circumstances are not playing in his favour.

 

It is a pivotal moment.

 

And then, says his beloved mentor, "Remember that the track is elliptical. Every point will be a turning point."
